Burkina Faso - Strengthening the management of childhood malnutrition
Strengthening the management of child malnutrition in the Centre-West Region of Burkina Faso
place
Distretti Sanitari di Réo e Tenado (Provincia del Sanguié) e Nanoro (Provincia del Boulkiemdé), Regione del Centre-Ouest.
Objective
The project aims to contribute to the reduction of infant mortality and morbidity in the Centre-Ouest region.
MMI activities
- Training on the SURGE approach for 75 healthcare workers, one for each reference health centre, organized in 3 sessions of 5 days each. The SURGE approach allows us to better anticipate, prepare and manage services for the treatment of acute malnutrition during peak periods.
- Supply of nutritional kits for the treatment of MAM, which will allow us to reduce the risk of stock shortages, thus ensuring the continuity of the nutritional treatment of the children taken into care.
BENEFICIARIes
The following will benefit from the project's action: 75 social and healthcare workers; 500 children affected by MAM in the age groups 0-23 months and 24-59 months. Indirect beneficiaries of the project are the residents of the intervention municipalities, including 108,233 children aged 0-59 months and 75,763 mothers.
