AREA OF INTERVENTION

OBJECTIVE

The project aims to reduce global acute malnutrition among children under 5 and women aged 15-49, as well as chronic malnutrition among children under 5 in the Central-West region, through community resilience measures integrated with strengthening the healthcare system.

MMI ACTIVITIES

• Training and supervision of Health Center (CS) staff and Community Health Agents (ASC) on the Integrated Package of Infant and Young Child Feeding Services (PISA), and support for PISA implementation at the CS level.
• Updating and supervising CS staff, referral sites for complicated Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) cases, and ASC on national protocols for managing acute malnutrition.
• Systematic screening for acute malnutrition and outpatient management of MAM or SAM cases among under-5 children visiting the CS, referral of complicated SAM cases for hospitalization, and support for their treatment.

BENEFICIARIES

The beneficiaries of the project are:

• 18,300 children under 5 years old
• 53,836 mother-child pairs
• 450 vulnerable women and 450 men for activities on gender inequality
• 1,500 men involved in family-based malnutrition prevention activities
• 410 healthcare workers
• 530 community-based health agents

Indirect beneficiaries of the project include the families of the women and children directly involved, estimated at 215,344 people.
